4 Ways to Celebrate the Most Important Birthday of the Year

Yes, we’re talking about Duo’s

January 31, 2024 by Sean Carstens

We all have that one friend who lies every time they go to a restaurant about it being their birthday just so they can get a free dessert. Duo is surprisingly…exactly the same! In fact, we’re not even sure a day exists where is isn’t his birthday. In that spirit, here are six ways you can celebrate Duo’s special day (or days…365 to be exact).

1. Dress up as Duo

Dressing up isn’t just for kids on Halloween. Show off your love and support for Duo by really getting inside his head, because what could show your commitment to language-learning Owls more than impersonating Duo! (P.S. this mask may or may not be available on Duo’s favorite website)

2. Forge a New Streak in Duo’s Honor

If you haven’t started learning a new language yet, we can’t pick a better day than today to start! Same goes if you’ve lost a streak, seriously there’s no time like the present to get back into it. Go to your account right now and get going! If you’re currently maintaining a streak, (firstly congrats! Duo is super proud of you) then why not begin a journey into a new language? You never know where Korean might take you (namely Korea, but to each their own).

3. Join the ever growing number of people who are fluent in “stan-Twitter”

Yes, yes, yes, technically it’s foundations are in English, but with the recent Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj beef you’d be forgiven if you can’t understand a word of whats being said on Twitt- we mean X. While Duolingo doesn’t currently offer this language on our platform, you can still converse with Duo on his account and fully immerse yourself in the language and culture.

4. Make a Burn Book in Duo’s Honor

Let’s be real, Duo ate up Renee Rapp’s performance in the new Mean Girls Musical, just as much as the rest of us so of course he’s getting in on the action. Look at Duo’s burn book and channel you’re inner plastic as you create your own!
